Who Knew? 'And Just Like That's' Lisa Had Two Dads

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Sorry, eagle-eyed "And Just Like That" viewers: You are wrong.

On last week's episode, entitled "Silent Mode," Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) learns that her beloved father has died and she missed the opportunity to spend some time with him before he passed because she turned her phone on silent. Much of the remainder of the episode turned comic as she needed to deal with her late father's domineering assistant at a Newark theater he ran. Played to oversized comic perfection by Jenifer Lewis, she turns a memorial service into a circus when she opens it with her own rendition of "Magic To Do."

But it didn't take long for those eagle-eyed viewers to pick up on a serious continuity error: Lisa had told Charlotte York Greenblatt on the show's first season that her father had died the year before.

Nor did anyone involved in the show catch the error when Billy Dee Williams appeared as Lisa's dad on an episode in Season Two. Curiously, the episode was called "Alive!" Or did they? Could that title be a comment by some smart-ass "AJLT" writer referencing the character's resurrection? Who knows the behind-the-scenes politics in the writers' room.

As for the most recent gaffe, Newsweek reports that TikTok user @michaelleahcim001 posted a video of the two scenes that has since received 991,700 views and 43,700 likes. The TikToker wrote in the video's on-screen text, "Has 'And just like that' completely forgot they killed Lisa's dad off already?"

In the comments, user @gabrielsykez wrote: "You'd think the actress would remember doing the scene."

Another, mtglazier posted: "Carrie will be having dinner with Big next episode"

While Andrew surmises, "In the series finale we will see Samantha lying in a tent in Peru, and we discover the whole show was her Ayahuasca trip"

But it took user blackplatformcrocs to nail what happened next: "watch the response from writers be - she has two dads 😁"

"On Monday evening, however, the production team on 'AJLT' clarified to THR that the dead dad referenced in season one of the show was referencing LTW's stepfather," writes The Hollywood Reporter.

We were hoping that Lisa grew up in a woke household where she had two dads, but maybe that's a revelation to come.
