Gay Twitter Roundup: 'Conclave' Happening IRL & the Bird Kingdom's Met Gala
Andrea Marks Joseph READ TIME: 5 MIN.
It feels like we've lived a lifetime since we last caught up with Gay Twitter: Katy Perry survived her four minutes in space, the "White Lotus" cast survived the gossip rumor mill, and we are still barely surviving in this political and economical climate. But slay we must, and serve we will! When life gets harder, X (formerly Twitter) gets funnier, and it's so important to celebrate the spaces where we have been able to find joy and community –in hating fascists together, wanting to see hot celebrities on our timelines, and learning something wild we wouldn't have come across in our daily lives. These birds slaying with eyeliner that seamlessly blends into their bob?? Our X timelines turned into the bird kingdom Met Gala for real! Gay Twitter, we love you, and there's nowhere we would rather be!
In between visits to the cinema to watch "Sinners," we patiently waited to find out if the person who tweeted about getting a cryptic work text was really being fired; we realized how confusing the title "The Last of Us" could sound to people who are much less online than we are; and we celebrated, then discussed the "Protect the Dolls" tee that's gone viral among celebs while raising funds for trans people! We could not scroll up or down on X without seeing "The White Lotus" actor Walton Goggins in a daring yellow speedo; the idea of "Conclave" happening in real life had us all rewatching the film and getting locked in on the must-know characters of any upcoming Vatican drama; and somehow, scandalous film "Emilia Pérez" continues to have an impact on the Oscars. Gay Twitter is the gift that keeps on giving!
This season of "White Lotus" may be over, but the internet's thirst for Walton Goggins never ends
You might as well go ahead and order that yellow speedo online right now so you'll have your outfit sorted for the sluttiest party on your schedule during the sacred, sexy season of Halloween.
Or perhaps we'll see this look hitting the streets even sooner! Potential summer trend alert?
Gay Twitter could not be more excited to follow all the drama of "Conclave" happening IRL
The death of Pope Francis (whether directly caused by JD Vance or not, we'll never truly know...) is obviously a devastating loss to the Catholic church and the world at large. He was extraordinarily selfless and gracious, cared deeply for the marginalized, welcomed queer people into his church with genuine adoration, and used gay Italian slang with such casual abandon that it became a recurring international news item and a thrilling education in Italian queer culture! Pope Francis was an icon and a legend.
Now that he's been laid to rest, we'll all be following the literal conclave closely. We're almost certain thousands of queer people worldwide have already begun planning their "Conclave" themed food and cocktails for the conclave-related parties they'll be hosting as we get news updates and Italian gossip begins to relay outlandish theories of the internal drama.
The bird kingdom's Met Gala was a week-long X event of sharp eyeliner and killer bobs.
And to this tweet we say: "Expand your mind and your horizons. Why can't she be both these things at once!!"
Now, this person has the Vision we need to be moving with:
While we've been gagged by birds, the birds have also apparently been gagged by us...
We interrupt this round-up for an all-important look at some thirst tweets!
We present to you: Hot celebrities, rugby players getting their hands into each others' underwear to achieve optimum performance on the field; the unforgettable reality check that Gaitok should have been at the club; and a classic Got Milk? Style poster for "The Pitt" actor "Noah Wyle, M.D.(Milk drinker.)" We hope this helps rejuvenate your soul in these trying times, giving you the energy and inner peace that only seeing sexy people can bring.
Queer people are the internet. We make history, and change history, simply by being our wild and wonderful selves online.
During the Easter weekend, this one-of-a-kind creativity was expressed through a holy remembrance of an instantly iconic, highly relevant "Apple" dance video, and by sharing biblical fancams set to emotional Taylor Swift songs. We continued celebrating queer talent and joy by looking back at the video of Jonathan Bailey "queening out" front row at a Kylie Minogue show, watching some unforgettable (for two very different reasons) voguing videos we love, and appreciating that Jonny provided a trigger warning for his "straight voice" on this video sharing how he makes money as a gay server at a Texas Roadhouse in a conservative town.
On a more serious note, we loved how joyful K-pop idol BAIN's coming out on stage was, complete with a "Born This Way" pride flag dance; we're always thinking of Bridgit Mendler's impact on pop music (even as she focuses on her space ventures.); "Pose" star and trans icon Dominique Jackson demanding respect will always be a moment we stop to watch when it appears on our timelines; and the Oscars changed their rules to ensure everyone watches all the films they're voting on. "Emilia Pérez's" impact...
Before we go...
We present to you some tweets that we'll be thinking about for... probably the rest of our lives, but certainly at the least for the rest of the year! The person who hugged the waiter... "Omg" does not begin to describe, but it's truly all we can say. There is much more to say on the topic of the "Protect the Dolls" tees and their impact, and we hope you're having those conversations. "Dorian Gray is about Twink Death" speaks for itself; and we are so proud to share the incredible news that yassifying for anonymity is back!
As a fun bonus, we're giving you a saucy, sapphic heads up:
Stay tuned for the Julianne Moore lesbian cult "age gap yuri" Netflix show, "Sirens," that reunites us with Meghann Fahy, and which we will all be talking about when it drops on May 22.
Also: Keep an eye out for the show starring "Riverdale" alum Lili Reinhart and "The Sex Lives of College Girls" alum Alyah Chanelle Scott –"Hal & Harper" hasn't been picked up in the US yet but fancams have started rolling in because of the sapphic clips already online from where it's airing in Spain, with lesbians cheering for the chemistry between the queer actors. Impossibly beautiful pansexual "Bottoms" actor Havana Rose Liu is also in this!
Lastly, when you start seeing fancy text replies that simply say "No it Chappell roan," know that it's not a new stream of bot replies programmed with a penchant for lesbian pop stars. We've all just been so charmed by this person's little sister!
