This Hard Cover Isn't What You Think
Andrea Marks Joseph READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Anyone for a portable glory hole?
This surprising, actually-available hardcover book has the title "Gay Thoughts" in large text on one side, and an actual glory hole cut out into the other side of the cover.
The marketing text informs us that it's useful for "Whatever fits." The playful advertising video showing that the range of things that can fit through the hole includes a ripe banana, cucumber, and eggplant. Objects of the non-edible variety that fit through the portable glory hole include a lightbulb, candle (even when lit the flame fits through with it), and a mustard ranunculus flower.
The glory hole is part of the cover of ambitious artist and author Pepo Moreno's new book, which is filled with "a mix of sometimes confusing, often self-deprecating, always corny and falsely superficial messages." It's a "lighthearted exploration" of queerness and what the author thinks it means to be gay in our society. It's available for purchase here.
