Are you looking for "A Little of Austria...A Lot of Vermont?" Have you ever dreamed of living out your best Julie Andrews fantasy by twirling on a mountainside singing "the hills are alive with the sound of music?"

Then, a visit to the historic Trapp Family Lodge above Stowe Village is a must.

The Austrian-inspired Trapp family lodge has been a mainstay of Stowe hospitality since 1950. Steeped in family history, it will forever be linked to the 1965 classic "The Sound of Music."

As you make your way to the lodge from all points, rolling hills and beautiful landscapes will surround you, no matter the weather. The rustic Austrian chalet-designed lodge is in a stunning mountain setting with beautiful views and 2,500 acres of woodlands, farmlands, and the charming village of Stowe.

The guest rooms are spacious and comfortable. Each room is decorated like an Austrian getaway. Depending on the location of your room, you could enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains from your balcony.

Fitness fanatics will enjoy the Fitness Center. It has a pool, hot tub, sauna, adequate workout area, yoga classes, massages, and a rock wall. Depending on the season, you can enjoy excellent hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing. If you enjoy cross-country skiing, you will love the 40 miles of groomed trails waiting for you.

Reservations are highly recommended for the dining room, the lounge, and the brewing bierhall, even if you are a lodge guest. No reservations are needed for the Kaffeehaus. The farm-to-table dining experience was terrific. The main restaurant will have you feasting on Vermont and Austrian cuisine.
