Bisexual field hockey player Nico Keenan competed last summer at the Olympics, and now he's won the gold in the love arena: He and gay Dutch politician Rob Jetten have announced their engagement.

The couple took to Instagram, each posting the same group of three photos. One features Keenan showing off his engagement ring, one shows Keenan embracing Jetten from behind as they smile for the camera, and one shows the frisky couple sharing an energetic kiss.

The husbands-to-be also posted the same caption: "Soon to be Mr&Mr💍".

EDGE previously noted that the couple "gained popularity for their love story and unlikely connection reminding 'Red, White & Royal Blue' audiences of the fictional queer romance come to real life..."

Keenan "competed at the second Games of his career for Argentina in field hockey" last summer, LGBTQ+ athletics site Outsports detailed. "The 27-year-old started the Olympic tournament as a reserve but was elevated into the squad with whom he reached the quarterfinals."

Jetten, who Outsports noted "is the leader of Dutch political party D66," was in Paris to cheer him on.

The athletics site recalled that the politician had spoken about how he proposed, telling LINDA.nl. "He popped the question at home just before they sat down for a romantic meal together," OutSports relayed.

"I thought it was about time," Jetten shared. "It just feels great. We're very happy together."

As for the occasion's logistics, "we have to make sure that we get our families, from two parts of the world, together, so we have to plan that very well," Jetten told Telegraaf.

Keenan spoke previously about how fans have responded to him being an out field hockey player. "People told me how happy they were that there was finally an openly bisexual hockey player playing in the Premier League," OutSports recalled him telling Trouw.
