Phoenix Same-Sex Couple to Say 'I Do' Publicly
Jason St. Amand READ TIME: 1 MIN.
One of the first same-sex couples in Arizona to get a marriage license after a federal judge cleared the way is inviting the public to their nuptials.
Karen Bailey and Nelda Majors will exchange vows in a ceremony Sunday afternoon at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Phoenix.
The couple allowed community members to RSVP by getting a free ticket through the online event planning website, Eventbrite.
Attendees with tickets will also be permitted to go to a reception with cake and punch.
The couple, who have been together for more than 50 years, was among those lined up outside a Phoenix courthouse last month after the judge struck down Arizona's ban on gay marriage.
