Christian Activists Warn Parents to Steer Clear of Gay Days at Disney World

In a world fraught with uncertainty, the month of June is guaranteed each year to bring three perennial occurrences. Lots of people will get married. Even more will graduate from high school or college. And the religious right will go apoplectic over the annual Gay Days events held at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

According to American Family Association's "news" website One News Now, the Florida Family Association (FFA), which monitors the unofficial celebration, issued their yearly warning.

"FFA spokesman David Caton advises the day to avoid this year is Saturday, June 7. As many as 12,000 homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals and transvestites will descend on Disney World, he says. Caton further warned followers "they are there not just to enjoy themselves, but to celebrate their lifestyle in front of unsuspecting families who did not know in advance."

According to Towleroad, FFA also plans to fly their bi-planed driven banner stating "Warning Gay Day at Disney 6/7" across the park this week in advance of the big day on Saturday.

Right Wing Watch reports Christian activist Janet Porter warned followers of her group Faith 2 Action that "the homosexual agenda is planning to once again descend on Disney World in Orlando, Florida to expose your children to far more than Mickey Mouse and Space Mountain." Porter advised that "cross-dressing men will be among those parading public displays of perversion."

FFA and Porter appear to have picked up the banner to lead the charge against Gay Days that once was held by American Family Association group One Million Moms (OMM), whose 2013 boycott against the mouse failed to gain any noticeable traction.

A 2013 statement from OMM read "Homosexuals will be celebrating the 23rd anniversary of Gay Day wearing matching Gay Day merchandise, such as T-shirts. There will also be transvestites dressed in drag showing their support for the event. This event is planned with the intent to expose and desensitize children to this lifestyle by same-sex couples holding hands, hugging and kissing. In short, a Gay Day participant's main goal is to be seen versus seeing Disney World."

One Million Moms went on to say that they contacted Disney officials in the past about Gay Days, but "their response was simply that they do not sponsor this event."

"Disney has taken no action to stop this, which leaves families stunned and offended. So instead of a normal day at this popular theme park, parents will be angry at the harm this causes families," the statement continues. "Disney has been irresponsible for far too long. Disney representatives and security need to maintain a family-friendly atmosphere and require proper conduct and dress code on a daily basis."
