Miss. City Passes Resolution Favoring LGBT Community

The Human Rights Campaign says the Waveland City Council has passed an anti-discrimination resolution recognizing the dignity and worth of all city residents -- including those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.

The council voted Wednesday to approve the resolution.

The group tells The Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/1nttr7D) Waveland joins Starkville, Hattiesburg, Greenville, Magnolia, Bay St. Louis and Oxford in passing anti-discrimination votes.

A poll conducted last summer by the HRC found 64 percent of residents back workplace non-discrimination protections for LGBT employees and nearly 60 percent of Mississippians under the age of 30 support marriage equality.
