Free Birds

JC Alvarez READ TIME: 1 MIN.

Reggie (Owen Wilson) is no turkey! He knows what happens to his gaggle of a brood every holiday. However, when this Thanksgiving comes to pass and he's nominated to the coveted honor of a "Presidential pardon" he goes on to live the high life. No banquet dinner for him, or ever again for that matter, when his path crosses with Jake, a rogue turkey on the run (voiced by Woody Harrelson), and he convinces Reggie that they must "Free Birds," as the title of the film suggests. With that, their adventure begins.

At the mercy of his paranoid machinations, Jake convinces Reggie that they must travel back in time and free all turkeys from their dinnertime fates. Fortunately, Jake knows just where to find a time machine, and the duo travel back to the very first Thanksgiving on a mission to turn the tide and forever mark the holiday a victimless feast, saving turkeys for generations to come.

Ambitious? To say the least. Unfortunately, "Free Birds" is short on the main course. The Blu-ray features offer up something to nibble on including additional behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film and the animated efforts to "Free Birds" on the big screen, especially leading up to the film's adventurous climax. With an all-star cast including Amy Poehler and George Takei, "Free BIrds" may inspire you to rethink the main course -- at least for one Thanksgiving, pizza is worth its slice.

"Free Birds" is available as a Blu-ray Combo Pack with DVD and Digital HD download for $25.99
