Elton John & David Furnish Expect Second Child

Pop star icon Elton John and his partner David Furnish recently announced that they will become parents for the second time as a surrogate is expected to give birth to their child next year, the U.K. tabloid paper the Sun reports.

Sir Elton, 65, and Furnish, 50, used the same surrogate who gave birth to their son Zachary, now 23 months old.

The singer said he and his partner are "over the moon" about the addition to the family and a source close to the couple told the Sun that "Elton and David love this lady like a sister and they feel indebted to her for life. Naturally she has been well rewarded. But her identity will never be revealed."

The couple's son, who was born on Christmas Day 2010, will have turned two by the time the newborn arrives. The newspaper points out that Furnish has been preparing for the bundle of joy and the couple is also currently looking for an extra nanny.

A few months ago, Sir Elton told the media that he and his partner were ready for another kid and wanted their son to have a sibling.

"At what stage we don't know. But we definitely will. I don't want him to be an only child," Sir Elton said.

Back in 2009, Ukraine's minister for family affairs said the "Rocket Man" was not allowed to adopt a 14-month-old baby from the country because he is too old and because he is not traditionally married. John and his partner wanted to adopt an HIV-infected baby named Leo from a hospital for children who are HIV positive, according to the Associated Press.

"Foreign citizens who are single have no right to adopt children ... and the age difference between the adopter and the child cannot be more than 45 years," Ukraine's Family, Youth and Sports Minister, Yuriy Pavlenko said. "The law is the same for everybody: for a president, for a minister, for Elton John."
