Mary Murphy from "So You Think You Can Dance" on her Broadway Debut in BURN THE FLOOR

Dr. William Kapfer READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Time is running out for you to see BURN THE FLOOR, the grinding, sweating, athletic, sensual and erotically-charged ballroom dancing extravaganza at the Longacre Theater in New York.

If you'd like to see physically fit men and women cha-cha-cha-ing their butts off for two hours of non-stop foxtrot, samba, jive, waltz, tango and swing dancing, then you need to see this show before it closes on January 10th.

BURN THE FLOOR is a dazzling dance revue sporting an international cast of championship Latin and ballroom dancers, including-until January 10th only-Mary Murphy from Fox TV's "So you Think You Can Dance."

We were able to catch-up with the show's featured guest star, Mary Murphy for a few soundbites on the show's cast, what it took to be a member of one of the hottest dance productions of the year, and what's next on the star's dance card.

Q. Tell us about the cast's technique and passion.

"The dancers in this show are the best technically trained dancers that I've seen. The passion they produce is amazing. Some members of the company have been in the show for 10 years and I am so impressed and appreciative of their talents. I come to this from a different world; I am a retired dancer getting back in with dancers who are about as hot as you can imagine. They've been very welcoming and supportive."

Q. How did you prepare for such a physical performance?

"Three months ago I threw my back out so I didn't get the training I anticipated. I took baby steps to strengthen my body. I also had a neuroma on my right foot, two barely-hanging-on ligaments on my right ankle, tendonitis in my right elbow, a torn rotator cuff and got a hernia 10 days before my first performance on Broadway. I have some injuries but onopening night I didn't feel any of it. I am having the time of my life right now. I have been doing double shows days over the holidays and am loving it.

Q. What's next for you?

"I would love to do "So You Think You Can Dance" (SYTYCD) till the day I die. I'm heavily involved in the Canadian, Australia and Scandinavian SYTYCD series as well, and I hope I can get to South Africa. I've done some acting roles - a DeGrassi movie will come out this year. If I get time I'm going to chase BURN THE FLOOR down wherever it is in the world, and keep on making guest appearances. The best is yet to come."

BURN THE FLOOR is running through January 10th. Please visit the show's website for a special buy-1-get-1-free offer, www.burnthefloor.com.
