Cheers To Mama’s Kitchen
"I encourage everyone to join us for a variety of wine pours, served with plenty of delightful food. What better way to help others?" said Mama's Kitchen executive director, Alberto Cortés, encouraging community members to participate in MAMA'S KITCHEN'S 16TH ANNUAL WINE TASTING EVENT, presented by Revivals and hosted by Bourbon Street on Thursday, August 18, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Partygoers will experience eclectic wine tastings with pours throughout the evening, while enjoying a sumptuous selection of hors d'oeuvres. Proceeds go directly to the daily operations of Mama's Kitchen, the only nonprofit in San Diego that prepares and delivers three meals a day, seven days a week, at no charge to the men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS or cancer. "We are grateful to Bourbon Street for hosting our Wine Tasting again for the 16th year," Cortés said. "It is a fun and relaxing evening where friends come together to have a good time and support a common cause-helping Mama's Kitchen feed those in our community who are most vulnerable."
New this year, Revivals in Hillcrest is a presenting sponsor of this year's wine tasting fundraiser. "Thirty years into this epi- demic, HIV and AIDS continues to affect people everywhere. Even though we're located in Palm Springs, we have long admired the work Mama's Kitchen has been doing for people affected by HIV/AIDS and cancer in the San Diego area," said David Brinkman, Desert AIDS Project CEO. "When our Hillcrest Revivals store opened, we thought it was a perfect opportunity to help support the essential services Mama's Kitchen has been providing for so long."
In addition to great wine, food, and company, event highlights include a "Lucky Ticket" Silent Auction featuring indulgent gift packages from San Diego's premiere dining and entertainment venues, as well as Mama's Kitchen's popular "Wine & Spirits Deck" Opportunity Drawing: purchase a playing card for a 1-in-52 chance to take home 17 bottles of premium wine and spirits. Another new addition to this year's event is a wine bottle ring toss, a fun and competitive opportunity to win bottles of wine and amazing prizes donated by generous companies and individuals. Attendees who bring five items to donate to the Mama's Pantry program will receive three free rings to toss. The items to bring are among the most requested by pantry clients and include donations of cereal, jelly, canned tuna or salmon.
